A granite panel reflects Jim Singer, left, floor manager of Creative Edge Mastershop, and shop owner Bob Sawyer on Monday in Fairfield. The names of three of the seven astronauts killed in the space shuttle Columbia disaster were cut into the stone. The four other names were cut into a second panel. The stones will become part of a memorial at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla. Below, Singer holds an M cut from one of the panels. Below right, a machine cuts the granite with pressurized water and a fine abrasive.■
